“I had the best massage of my life today at SomaSense Bodywork!! It was the first time I have had Ashiatsu massage and I am totally addicted. For someone that loves deep tissue I would highly recommend this treatment from her. Apparently she does several different types of massage, it’s nice to find someone located in San Diego that offers such a wide variety.”
“During the last two years, I have been blessed to have received weekly 2 hour somatic bodywork sessions with Tina, (the owner of SomaSense Bodywork) while living in downtown San Diego. Her style of integrating mental, physical, emotional and spiritual bodywork is Extraordinary. She helped me recover from knee surgery, smoothed over a transition to a new city and enhanced my overall Well Being through her mufti-disciplined approach and huge heart.”
“I have been going to Tina at SomaSense Bodywork here in San Diego and I can say that she is the best massage therapist ever! In fact, all the therapists there are very good. I go with aches and pains and Tina listens intently as I tell her about what is going on. She really cares about you as a person and she goes beyond 100% to help you experience relief and help for whatever your needs are. I can not say enough about how I love this place. Very soothing atmosphere too.”
“I’m not someone who was particularly comfortable with massage, but Tina’s caring personality made me fell very welcome. I just began using massage as way to improve my Crossfit workout recovery and Tina’s sensitivity and masterful hands have made a huge difference. Highly recommended! ”
“A really great massage from someone who understands the technical aspects of massage and also has the sensitivity to give you what you need in the moment. Plus Tina has an awesome personality that makes it easy to find yourself at ease and relax. Highly recommended.”
”I am trained as a massage therapist, so I know a good massage when I get one! Tina’s work is suburb. Her touch is gentle, and she’s aware of how the body under her hands is reacting to her touch. She checks in to make sure the work is not too light or too deep, but not so often that it distracts from the experience. Her space is warm and inviting, which adds to the overall experience. I came in with a stiff neck, and left relaxed, rejuvenated, and my neck felt so much better. LIke others have said, her personality also plays a key part in the work you will receive. She is obviously a warm and caring person. Get a Tina massage, you won’t be disappointed!!”
Also known as Ashiatsu, this is a Swedish based oil massage, done on a table. The practitioner uses an overhead support system to control her bodyweight and massages the client with her feet. The soft surfaces of the foot contour comfortably to the body allowing the therapist to deliver powerful, effective treatments that make the deep work more relaxing for the client. Slow, gliding effleurage is combined with deep compression, cross fiber and acupressure techniques. Bars attached to the ceiling over the table provide balance and allow the therapist complete control of pressure and working from all angles.

Thai massage has been called the lazy man’s yoga. But it so much more than just stretching. Through this sophisticated sequence of deep rhythmic acupressure to muscles during assisted stretches and yoga-like postures, this integrated approach stimulates the body’s natural healing ability by unblocking the flow, resulting in a deep sense of calm and relaxation. Thai Sports massage can target a particular region in the body where knots are formed or where it is injured. This type of massage is commonly done on athletes and sportsmen for better flexibility, stress relief (both physical and mental), and for treating stiffness, aches and pains. Table Sports Thai has taken the ancient styles and adapted it to be performed on a standard massage table.

CONNECTING MIND & BODY
The name SomaSense is derived from our fundamental belief that optimum health can be achieved by truly connecting the mind’s awareness with the body’s sensations. Come explore with us.
Some people like to receive massage without a stitch on, others wear underwear, and some people prefer to wear clothes. You don’t have to take off more clothes than you are comfortable with to receive massage. Talk to your therapist and he or she will adapt to your needs. Be aware that wearing more clothes may interfere with the use of certain techniques, but your comfort is the most important thing when receiving a massage. Before and after the session, you will undress and dress in complete privacy.
The therapist will ask you what you need for your session that day. You will also be asked to describe any pain that you are experiencing. This will determine the appropriate areas of your body that need attention. A full-body massage includes the back, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, feet and hands.
Often people are embarrassed to speak up if there is something they don’t like about the massage. We always appreciate your requests and feedback. While we may be the experts on massage, you are the expert on you, and it is your massage. Your therapist will never be offended if you make a request to turn up the heat, add a blanket, or adjust the table, pressure or music during your session
In recent years, many businesses have discovered that if they cut the session by 10 minutes, they can book the therapists for session after session. The problem with this “professional hour” of 50 minutes is the client is often paying for the price of an hour, and getting an overworked massage therapist.
Everyone except the owners suffer. Clients lose a total of one full treatment every six sessions (10 minutes times 6 sessions is an hour)! Therapists don’t get enough time to keep up and are pressured to try to fit a full massage into 50 minutes, which is hard enough to do in 60 minutes.
We always give you a full 60 or 90 minute session.
Learn more about what the many names you hear really mean, see Our Services. If you have a particular type of massage that you are interested in, or a special need (like being pregnant), please be sure to let us know and we will try to match you with the person best suited to meet your needs. Our preference is to customize each session, using whatever techniques work best for you. We don’t charge more for one type of massage than another, or for deeper work. Often, some areas need very deep work and others not – so why pay extra for deeper work? If we charge more for Ashiatsu, but only use that approach on your shoulders, then what? We prefer to charge one fair price to give you the best massage, every time.
